Senate Confirms U.S. Trade Representative

The nominee received some bipartisan support in the final vote.

The Senate voted to confirm Jamieson Greer as the new U.S. Trade Representative this week, with some bipartisan support. Greer is a former Air Force lawyer who served as chief of staff to Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer during President Donald Trump’s first term.

Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa stated, “I am confident that Mr. Greer will pursue an aggressive trade strategy that includes opening access to new markets through new trade deals. I also believe that Mr. Greer will work to level the playing field for U.S. farmers to compete with Brazil fairly, and deal with China head-on.”

Conversely, Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon said, “Mr. Greer will be a rubber stamp for the Trump Tax, the knee-jerk decision to slap tariffs on nearly everything Americans buy and make high prices even higher.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For U.S. Trade Representative Greer as he assumes office and addresses foreign trade.
  • For members of the Senate as they continue to hold confirmation hearings for the president’s nominees to federal roles.
